Course Text: Heinz Kohler, Statistics for Business and Economics, Third Edition.
Course Objectives:
1. To show the relation between probability and statistics.
2. To develop an understanding of hypothesis testing and the wide range of hypotheses which can be tested.
3. To provide an understanding of regression and correlation analysis and an opportunity to apply regression analysis to an economic problem.
4. To provide the student "hands-on" experience with QUATTRO PRO and LIMDEP.

Course Policies:
1. Exams, quizzes, homework, papers and projects will be entirely your own work.
2. You may study together and are encouraged to do so. HOWEVER homework assignments are to be your own work.
3. All papers and projects for this course will be typewritten on a microcomputer by you. I will provide help on WORDPERFECT, QUATTRO-PRO, and LIMDEP only.
4. All quizzes and exams will be taken using QUATTRO-PRO and LIMDEP.
5. All work for this course will be submitted in class on the date due. NO WORK will be accepted later unless you have written permission from me.
6. Homework includes the assigned problems and computer work which will be assigned throughout the course.

a. Chapter Problems are not required unless you score less than 70 on a quiz. Thus, homework is not required until after the February 2 quiz.
b. If you score higher than a 70 on a quiz, homework will not be required until your performance on the next quiz falls below a 70.
c. However, if you hand in the homework on time, I will grade the homework and use those grades, if it helps you.
d. If you perform at 70 or better throughout the course and do not submit homework, the homework portion of your grade will be your quiz average.

7. Problem Policies. You must:
a. Show all work.
b. Discuss how you arrived at the answer if a formula was not used. Present the formula and your substitution if a formula was used.
c. Problem sets will be graded on a +, , -, 0 scheme.
d. All problem sets for a particular chapter are due on the date specified.
8. You are responsible for the chapter material on the date established by the syllabus. You should read the chapter BEFORE coming to class.
